If your employer partners with Remodel Health, you have a unique and flexible health benefits package. Instead of forcing everyone into a single, one-size-fits-all health plan, your employer provides a monthly tax-free allowance, known as an Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangement (ICHRA), for you to buy your own health insurance.
When you pair that allowance with an eligible health plan, you also gain access to a Lively Health Savings Account (HSA) to save and spend money on out-of-pocket medical care tax-free.
How does my ICHRA and HSA work together?
Think of your Remodel Health ICHRA and your Lively HSA as two halves of your healthcare strategy:
- The ICHRA pays for your insurance premium: Your employer provides a set monthly budget. You use the Remodel Health platform to shop for an individual health insurance plan that fits your preferences and needs. You submit proof of your premium payment, and your employer reimburses you tax-free up to your allowance limit.
- The HSA pays for your actual medical care: You use your Lively HSA to pay for eligible out-of-pocket costs that your insurance doesn't cover like doctor copays, prescriptions, vision care, and dental work. You (and your employer, if they choose) can deposit pre-tax dollars from your paycheck into this account. Note: IRS regulations require you to be enrolled in a qualified High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) to open and contribute to an HSA. Lively does not advise on or help choose specific health insurance plans.
