To comply with federal banking regulations, Lively automatically verifies employee identities during HSA enrollment. While an employee completes this verification, your day-to-day benefits administration and contribution schedules remain completely uninterrupted.
How do employees complete verification?
When an employee’s identity is not automatically verified, an Action Needed alert appears on their personal dashboard guiding them to complete a quick document upload. If an employee notifies you of an issue or discrepancy, verify all personal information for that employee is correct.
Correct any typos or incorrect information in your HRIS, payroll platform, or Lively Employer Portal. Once updated, Lively will automatically rerun identity verification to resolve without manual intervention.
What does this mean for your daily administration?
Lively’s automated verification ensures zero disruption to your payroll workflows and benefit operations:
- All recurring employer and employee payroll contributions deposit directly into employee HSAs without delay, even if an employee’s verification is pending.
- You can continue to initiate one-off contributions, payroll corrections, or contribution reversals through your Employer Dashboard or automated File Sync as needed.
- Account creation proceeds with 100% of employees on your enrollment roster regardless of verification status.
- If an employee has a stacked Lively card linked to both an HSA and another plan, the physical card can be activated immediately. The card functions normally for non-HSA purchases.
- You never need to collect, review, or submit sensitive identity documents on behalf of your employees. Employees resolve verification directly within their own secure Lively account.
What reporting is available for employee identity verification?
Under federal Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), USA PATRIOT Act, and financial privacy regulations, specific details regarding an individual employee’s identity verification results cannot be shared with employers. Because of these privacy mandates, Lively does not display individual verification statuses or failure reasons on employer reports or the Employer Dashboard.
If an employee asks why their HSA card was declined or why their dashboard shows an Action needed notice, you can reassure them that their payroll deductions are being safely deposited into their account. Advise them to log into their Lively dashboard to complete their document verification.
If an employee experiences issues while uploading their documents, encourage them to review our troubleshooting guide. If they still need help, have them reach out directly to Lively Support via our 24/7 chat or via secure message from their Lively account.
