Managing the end-of-year renewal process depends on the specific benefit plans you offer. Lively has streamlined this process to be as automated as possible, though some plan types do require active re-enrollment to ensure continued coverage for your employees.
Plans that require no action (HSA and Commuter): these plans are considered "evergreen", meaning they do not require annual re-enrollment.
HSA: If employees are continuing coverage in the same HSA plan, no action is needed. Their enrollment rolls over automatically.
Commuter: These plans do not require renewal after the initial enrollment.
Plans that require re-enrollment (FSA, HRA, LSA, and MTA): these plans expire at the end of the plan year. To ensure your employees maintain coverage, you must re-enroll them for the upcoming year before the current plan year ends.
How to re-enroll employees: you can re-enroll employees for the new plan year using one of the following methods in the Lively dashboard:
Enrollment Dashboard: Navigate to the "Employees" tab and select "Employees - Enroll Employee". From there, you can manually re-enroll individuals into the future plan year.
File Upload: Upload or transmit a new Enrollment file that specifically includes the new enrollment data for the upcoming plan year.
Common Questions & Troubleshooting:
Access Issues: If you cannot access the Enrollment Dashboard, please verify that your account has the necessary administrative permissions or contact your Customer Success Manager or the Customer Service team for assistance.
Deadlines: We recommend setting internal reminders ahead of the plan year end to avoid any gaps in coverage for your employees.
Reversing Contributions: If you need to reverse a contribution file or payroll entry during this transition, please contact your Customer Success Manager or the Customer Service team with the specific details of the transaction.
