Lively has updated its direct deposit capabilities to provide employers with more robust reporting and better visibility into employee contributions. These enhancements allow for more precise tracking of pre-tax and post-tax funds.
Table of Contents
Locating Account Numbers
You can find the updated account information in the "Employee Enrollment Report", located under the "Reports" section of your Employer Dashboard. In this report, each employee will have two distinct account numbers listed to ensure accurate contribution categorization:
EE Account Number: this number is used specifically for pre-tax, employee contributions.
ER Account Number: this number is used specifically for post-tax, employer contributions.
Please note that these new numbers will not affect any existing account numbers or processes you currently have in place, and your routing number remains unchanged.
Accessing Contribution Reports
Your dashboard reporting has been updated on both your main "Overview" page and individual employee profiles.
To view past activity, navigate to the "Funding" section and look for "Historical Transactions". This area lists all direct deposits sent, broken down by day. For a deeper dive, you can download a full report for any specific transaction day by clicking the three dots in the "Action" column.
Additionally, the Contribution Details and Year-to-Date reports provide a comprehensive view of all contributions on a per-employee basis.
Email Notifications
To keep you informed, Lively sends a daily notification summarizing all contributions received that day. If your organization sends contributions on a specific schedule (e.g., biweekly), you will receive an email only on the days a contribution is successfully received.
Troubleshooting Rejected Contributions
Occasionally, a direct deposit contribution may be rejected. This typically happens for one of three reasons:
IRS Limits: If an employee is approaching their contribution limit for the tax year, any deposit that would push them over this cap will be rejected to prevent tax penalties.
Closed Accounts: Contributions directed toward a closed HSA will be automatically rejected.
Unauthorized Debits: Any attempt to debit (withdraw from) an HSA using these specific account and routing numbers will be rejected, as they are for deposit purposes only.
