What is Smart Claim Submission?
Smart Claim submission is a faster way to get your claims completed! LivelyAI securely scans your uploaded documentation and automatically populates the necessary fields for claim submission. This reduces the time it takes to submit your claim, and can minimize typos. This enhancement will be available for all Lively accounts August 4, 2025.
Eligible claims submitted for your Dependent Care FSA or Limited Purpose FSA may be instantly approved by LivelyAI if your documentation includes all required details in accordance with IRS guidelines. This helps make managing your Lively Benefits faster and more convenient!
Auto-approval with LivelyAI is currently available for General Purpose FSA, Dependent Care FSA, and Limited Purpose FSA. We’re working on expanding this feature to other benefits soon!
How does it work?
To submit a claim using Smart Claim submission, log in to your Lively account and select the “Get Reimbursed” option from your dashboard. Click “Choose file” to upload your documentation, then select “Process file(s)”. LivelyAI will scan your document(s) and auto-fill the required fields in the claim form. Review the pre-filled details to ensure the information is accurate, check the box confirming the information is correct, and click “Submit claim”.
For Dependent Care FSA and Limited Purpose FSA claims, your submission may be instantly approved using LivelyAI. If your claim is automatically approved, you will receive immediate confirmation. Any claims unable to be instantly approved will follow our standard review process from the Lively team, or you may be prompted for more information.
What do I need to include in my documentation for my claim to be approved?
Substantiation requirements vary by the type of account you are spending from. Generally, most accounts require documentation that clearly demonstrates what service or product was received, when it was received, who provided it, and the amount paid.
For account-specific substantiation requirements, please refer to the appropriate guide below:
Health Savings Account (HSA)
General Purpose FSA (GPFSA)
Limited Purpose FSA (LPFSA)
Dependent Care FSA (DCFSA)
Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA)
Lifestyle Spending Account (LSA)
Commuter Account
Why wasn’t my document accepted?
LivelyAI may not recognize data on attachments that are difficult to read or missing key information. Common reasons this can happen:
- The image was blurry, too dark, or parts of the document were cut off
- The paper was crinkled, folded, or hard to read
- It didn’t include all required details like the date of service, provider name, description, or amount
- The expense couldn’t be verified as eligible based on the information provided
Please make sure your document(s) are flat, well-lit, upright, and fully visible in the photo. Double check that all necessary information is clearly visible, and your expense is eligible for reimbursement. Please visit our eligibility tool to confirm the eligibility of your expense.
Why did my claim need further review?
If we weren’t able to confirm the eligibility of your expense or if the submission was pushed through while some information was still flagged as missing, the Lively team will review your claim. You will receive an email confirmation once your claim is approved or if further information is required.
Do I have to use Smart Claims?
No, Smart Claims is an optional convenience feature intended to make the claim process easier and quicker for you, but is not required. You may continue to submit claims manually by selecting ‘switch to manual entry form’ if you prefer.
Is Smart Claim Submission safe and secure?
Yes, the security of your data is of utmost importance to us. Our Smart Claim feature was designed with your privacy and security in mind. Lively follows all applicable regulations, including HIPAA and IRS guidelines, to keep your personal information safe. You can read more about the security measures we take here.
