For Charles Schwab investments, view instructions here. The following is specifically for TD Ameritrade investments
In-kind transfers are available through our TD Ameritrade’s Self-Directed Brokerage Account investment option.
It’s common for HSA providers to require that you liquidate your investments and move them into cash before you can transfer your funds. Worse case scenario is that if they receive a transfer request, but some or all of the funds are sitting in investments, the request will simply be ignored.
However, there are several providers that we are aware of who do support in-kind transfers out:
- Merrill Lynch
- Bank of America (Only if associated with Merrill Lynch)
- ConnectYourCare/Optum Financial
- Elements Financial
- Fidelity
- HSA Bank (applicable to TD Ameritrade investments only)
- Sterling Administration
In all cases, we (Lively) won't know that your funds are invested, so please reach out to us before you sign your transfer form. Let us know that you currently have funds invested and you would like to move them over to Lively. Simply send an email to support@livelyme.com and we can provide you instructions and assist you with this process.
